OK, so I may have already told you about my plan to do The Master Cleanse this week. I've been apprehensive about posting this as I may jinx myself....but here goes...
For those of you unfamiliar with The Master Cleanse, here's a quick rundown: For a minimum of 10 days, but up to 40 days (I'm shooting for the 10), you drink a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper anytime you feel hungry. Every night you drink a laxative herbal tea, and every morning you do a salt flush. A salt flush is a matter of drinking a quart of warm salt water - I just think "chicken soup, chicken soup."
The idea is to totally clean out your system - toxins, built up gunk, mucus. I'm hoping it will be a "reset button" for my system. Get out all the garbage hanging out from my smoking years, etc. Reset my metabolism...fix my digestion problems.
I've been researching this cleanse for over two years, since shortly after I quit smoking. I figured now was the time. I've read good reports and bad, I've talked to people who thought it was a great experience, and listened to concerns of others.
And...
I feel great! I haven't been hungry; I haven't felt sick, or weak, or woozy. I have been sleeping quite a bit, but I think that's more because I'm on Spring Break and I CAN, rather that this cleanse. I walked a few miles last night with Brittany, and taught my class at the gym this morning at 6am, just like usual. I've been doing Pilates at home, and have been running odd errands here and there.
Now, after I post this, the jinx of it might land squarely on my head and I might have to post an addendum - many people can feel ill at times as the cleanse jostles all those toxins and such around in your system. Let's hope for the best, eh? I'm at the end of day 3 and that's supposed to be the worst day!

Oh my goodness, Jen! Are you eating anything? Ug, salt water?! You totally have to keep me posted on how this works for you. I may need something like this after this parasite evacuates my body. :)
I'm bummed we didn't end up in LA. It would have been fun to live within an hour or two of you.
I think this is all so interesting. Keep us all posted. May it be all you are hoping for and more! Love you
