Wish Me Luck!

I dropped off an application for a housing lottery today. These beautiful, modern condos are being built in downtown Santa Barbara. They're called ChapalaOne. When you get to the website, they advertise that there are units starting below $1.2 Million! What a deal! Well, my neighbor forwarded me an email the other day that this building is going to hold a lottery for 11 units designated moderate income. Well, here in SB, that means a single individual, such as myself, must make less than $74K a year. Um, I'm pretty sure my teaching salary falls quite short of that amount.
There are studio lofts, one bedroom lofts, two bedroom, and 3 bedroom units available. I guess if your name is drawn, you can choose whichever you want as long as you make enough to qualify for that particular unit. This means I could possibly get the 2 bedroom unit.
The architecture is amazing and the location is fantastic for a downtown lover like myself. I won't be heartbroken if I don't have my name drawn seeing as these things are subject to all sorts of rules and limitations, and I'd like to have at least a little bit of a yard...but it can't hurt to apply, right?
I'll keep you posted!
