I cannot tell you how tired I am. I suppose part of it has to do with the fact that I've been stuck in a chair for nearly 3 hours at a time today! Blech! Wake up at 5, get out of bed at 5:15, at the gym by 5:45 - none of this is a problem. Sitting in a chair listening (or pretending to listen anyway) to people talk AT me from 8-11:30 and then again from 12:30-3:30....BORING, or as I like to say, DEATH TO SMOOCHIE!!!!
Seriously, I cannot understand how they expect us to stay awake during these meetings. We don't even get recess! Yes, we have short breaks in the middle, but all that does is give me time to lie on the grass and wish I could take a short nap.
Tomorrow is our last day of seminar type stuff. Thursday we have a sure to be glorious 3 hour staff meeting, but then I am free. Well, free to actually do some preparing for the school year - I still haven't actually set foot on my school campus. I've had good intentions to go both Monday and today, but have come home to nap both days instead.
I am partly writing this to complain and whine, but mainly so I can look back on it before Monday. Monday, when my 35 6th graders wait at my door, anxious, excited to start a new year as "top dogs." Monday, when 30 minutes into school, those same 35 6th graders are going to be looking at the clock - realizing that they're actually stuck here ALL DAY! Monday, when I am sure that they will be just as tired as I am now. Monday, when I will remember to do fun, active things with them to keep that enthusiastic spark as long as I can, 'cuz I gotta tell ya - this feeling I've got ain't no fun!
